Summary: At this point, students have already finished learning covering the topics "Cell Structure and Function and Energy and the Cell". We will begin the unit by brainstorming what students already know about cell division and connect this to past material they may have covered such as the topics above. New material on Mitosis and Meiosis will be given to the students in the form of a powerpoint, introducing the differences between the too and highlighting specifics of each stage that makes it unique. Students will then complete an activity in which they create their own flashcards matching descriptions of the stages with the appropriate picture.
Objectives:
Students will be able to identify different stages of Mitosis and Meiosis
Students will be able to distinguish what is occurring in the stages of Mitosis and Meiosis
